Just a quick message to say that when you go through doing the bobbin the notch you mention should actually be a pin into a notch not as you say.

I just purchased this same machine last week. It dates back to August 1, 1927. Pretty rough shape, lots of rust and some missing parts but restorable. It must have been heavily used. Decals are all worn off and the only shiny place on the face plate is where the thread from the take up lever down to the eyelet in front of the face plate rubs against the plate. I look forward to soon use this gem. Thanks for your tutorials.

Wow! This little gem of a foot came with my Singer 99k. I can’t wait to try it now that i know what I can do with it! Is there a way to switch the orientation of the bulk of the fabric to the left of the needle for attaching the lace to the edge of bulkier items, such as curtains?

Just made some raspberry jam. Had 1.6kg of fruit and I used 1.2kg of sugar and the juice from half a lemon. It made four pint jars and it set ok. I did waterbath it for 8 min although my mum never did this back in the day. I hope thats enough sugar for long term storage? The tiny bit I had left over tastes very very nice. Sweet but very fruity flavoured.

12 years later and your video is still proving to be an absolute gem. Checked a few other videos on the bobbin winding specifically and realised they couldn't be the correct winding, but you've shown it perfectly! I must admit I also got a chuckle while winding the bobbin using your instruction, upon hearing the tripod incident. If anything that adds a nice bit of character to it all!

Are these instructions backwards? How am I supposed to thread the bobbin when the first part of the video had me wind my spool of thread on top, through everything on the left and through the needle? Now I can't use the same spool of thread to do the bobbin part. 😭
